Pilgrimage to Sacred Sites

In Sri Lanka there are numerous well-known pilgrimage sites where people can meditate, immerse themselves in holy customs and ask for blessings. Devotees from various religions flock to places like Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) while the Anuradhapura Sacred City is home to historic stupas like ‘Ruwanwelisaya’ and the ‘Sri Maha Bodhi’ one of the world’s oldest trees. Other important spiritual sites include Mihintale, the site of the founding of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and Kataragama Temple.
